Maybe the fifth photo I shot during my trip. Walking from my hostel La Buena Vida in Ayampe, I had just learned to ask "Can I take your photo" in Spanish ("Puedo tomar tu photo" if your Spanish needs as much help as mine) and I came across this father and daughter on the path to the Pacific Ocean. Arguably my favorite shot of the entire four month trip to follow, although the subject matter didn't seem too impressed.

As I casually strolled to get a few shots of a clear sunset, this was as close as I could get before realizing that the sun sets incredibly fast at the equator.

Ecuador: from the coast to the Amazon.
Locations include: Ayampe, Puerto Lopez, Quito, Coca, and Nuevo Roca Fuerte.
From the sun and surf to the bustling city life of Quito to the eventual border crossing through the Amazon jungle. It is no wonder Ecuador is continually ranked as a top adventure destination in the world. Diversity is an understatement.

Local child in Pantoja, Peru stoked to visit the POS Arabella "cargo ship".

Curious child early in our "cargo ship" adventure.

For buildings of greater importance such as temples and royal quarters, walls had razor straight lines with no mortar, while the rest were comprised of stones similar to those in the background. You're welcome.

Peru: the beginning of a once in a lifetime adventure.
Upon crossing the border of Ecuador and Peru via the Rio Napo, I began quite possibly the adventure of my lifetime. Locations include: Pantoja, Iquitos, Lima, the entirety of the Panamericana south of Lima, Cuzco, Paracas, and all Andean mountain "roads" in between.

Certainly not all of them, but a respectable representation if I do say so myself.

I think most would agree that the sky really begins to take on properties that you can't really define, nor recall seeing, before approaching Patagonia…e.g. this kind of blue.

Rapidly changing weather made for phenomenal clouds and colors.

Certainly not all of them, but a respectable representation if I do say so myself.
Patagonia: it really is all it's cracked up to be.
While Northern Chile (e.g. Iquique) and Argentina (e.g. Mendoza) were beautiful, Patagonia is without equal. Stretches include Bariloche to San Martin de los Andes, the Seven Lakes region of Northern Chile to Lago Tranquilo (also known as the Carratera Austral), and Calafate (home of Mt Fitz Roy), Argentina to Ushuaia (also known as Fin del Mundo).
